Intro
Highlights
This portfolio of rooftop PV Installations have been completed throughout Southern Africa and include systems for shopping centres, hotels, factories and fuel stations and other SME. The client (confidential) rents the assets to the tenants on a 20-year lease, after which ownership is transferred to the lessee. No upfront investment is necessary by the tenants, who benefit from cheaper and cleaner energy without any out of pocket expenses.
The business model allows more businesses across Southern Africa to gain access to renewable energy, which saves them up to 15% on their electricity bill from year 1, while also reducing the Carbon footprint.
Predictions estimate the world’s total renewable energy generation capacity will rise 50% by 2024, to hit 1.2 TW on the back of ever cheaper system costs and policy support.
Of that figure, solar will contribute 60% of the new capacity, almost half of it in the form of rooftop PV. The IEA (International Energy Agency) estimates that rooftop solar from commercial and industrial installations will represent 270 GWp by 2024.
